Grammar dominates in Greater Western Region Primary Schools Swimming Championships

Twenty-seven Ballarat Grammar students competed on Friday 18 March, 2016 in the Greater Western Region Swimming Championships.

The competition included other swimmers from primary schools from as far afield as Horsham, Warrnambool and Hamilton. In the individual events Giles Peters and Charlotte Bodey set the stage for Grammar’s terrific results with wins in the 10 year old boys butterfly and the 12/13 year old girls butterfly and breaststroke respectively. Other medallists include:

Ben Meakin – silver in the 10 year old boys backstroke,

Zach Meakin – bronze in the 12 year old boys backstroke,

Milly Shar – silver in 11 year old girls breaststroke,

Ollie Warwick – bronze in the 12 year old boys breaststroke,

Giles Peters – bronze in the 10 year old boys freestyle

Lily Jordan – silver in the 11 year old girls freestyle.

Relay Teams Qualify for State Finals

Strong individual results gave the swimmers confidence going into the final eight relays where five of the relay races were won by Grammar, many of them by the narrowest of margins. All 5 relay teams qualify for State Finals – 22 swimmers in total! Congratulations to our Junior School swimmers.
