Jonathon Yates

Graduated 2016

A highly capable leader, Jonathon was rightfully and deservingly appointed to the roles of School Guardian, Butler House Cultural Captain and Senior Strings Quartet and Orchestra Leader.

Jonathon received many awards during his time at Grammar, including Academic Scholarships from Year 8 to the present, as well as Academic Merit Awards in each semester from Years 7 to 11 and the Year 11 Mathematics Faculty Prize. These acknowledgements are a clear reflection of Jonathon’s genuine love of learning. Additionally, Jonathon has received many distinctions in Science and Mathematics competitions and was selected to attend the National Mathematics Summer School in Canberra in 2016 as well as receiving School Colours in Academic Studies from 2014-2016.

A highly talented violinist, Jonathon had heavy involvement in the School’s Music Program. He performed in many school ensembles and his talent was best recognised by his solo performances with the Ballarat Symphony Orchestra in 2014 and 2015 receiving Music Colours in 2015-2016 for his efforts.

At the 2016 Presentation Night, Jonathon received many awards; a Year 12 Academic Excellence Award for his studies, the Mathematics Academic Faculty Prize as well as the William Cleaver Citizenship Award and most prestigious Kostas Rind Award for intellectual prowess, independent mind and compassion.
