Scholarships AND Bursaries for 2010
A wide range of Scholarships and Bursaries is available to students who wish to attend Ballarat Grammar.
Scholarships tend to be awarded to those with significant academic ability whilst Bursaries cover those with sound academic abilities and potential to contribute to School life in a wide variety of areas.
Scholarships and Bursaries are available to students entering Years 5 to 11 in the year following their test.
They are available under the headings of Academic, Music, Drama, Physical Theatre (inc. Dance), Art and for Isolated Children (members of the ICPA). Boarding Scholarships can be added to all these categories.
The Academic Scholarship testing is undertaken by the Edutest group which gives every child a diagnostic report on their strengths and weaknesses as revealed in the test. For those distant from Ballarat, this test may be taken via the Internet.
Scholarships and Bursaries take a variety of forms of rebate ranging from 100% down to 15% with some in the Music area covering music lessons only.
Music Scholarships involve all instruments and voice. Candidates prepare a number of pieces and are interviewed. Art candidates present a folio/evidence of previous work, undertake a drawing test and are interviewed. Drama candidates will be given a set piece to perform which is provided by the School. Dance students undertake a workshop as well as presenting an individual performance.
Academic, Music, Art, Physical Theatre and Drama Scholarship testing is held on a Saturday early in March, 2009.
Further information regarding scholarship dates and testing arrangements will be posted on the website in Term 4, but should you have any other queries, please ring Rob or Marcia in Admissions on (03)53 380830.
