Junior School Camps and Excursions
All classes at the Junior School engage in excursions, and incursions, related to
curriculum studies. Venues include the Melbourne Aquarium, IMAX, Museums, Scienceworks,
Cook’s Cottage, Marine Discovery Centre at Queenscliff, farm visits and local sites.
The Camps' program is sequential, with challenges increasing appropriately with age and experience and providing a transitional pathway into the Senior School Outdoor Education program.
All transport, accommodation and entry costs associated with Camps and excursions at the Junior School are included within the fee structure.
Prep Full day excursion
- Year 1 Accompany Year 2 on full day excursion to site of Year 2 camp
- Year 2 Log Cabin Lodge, Creswick. 2 days, recreational, fully catered, accommodation under hard roof (bunk house style).
- Years 3 and 4 join together for Camps at Kangaroobie (coastal Year 4 environment) and Cave Hill Creek (bushland environment) in alternate years. 3 days, fully catered, accommodation under hard roof (bunk house style).
- Year 5 Cape Bridgewater, Portland. 4 days, fully catered, accommodation under hard roof (bunk house style).
- Year 6 Ashbourne, near Woodend (Wombat State Forest), 5 days, self-catered, combination of tent and hard roof accommodation. Program includes tent pitching, map and compass navigation, orienteering, bush walking, cooking, ropes courses, environmental education.
The Junior School program is planned and developed in liaison with our Head of Outdoor
Education, Mr Andrew Reynolds. Mr Reynolds has direct involvement with Year 6 students
in instructing and assisting with the planning and preparation for the Woodend Camp,
wich provides valuable experiences for children entering Year 7 and the associated
Outdoor Education program.
