Physical Theatre/Dance Scholarships

Student ready to perform. Physical Theatre/Dance Scholarships are available to students demonstrating talent and the potential of a high level of involvement in the Physical Theatre/Dance area at Ballarat Grammar. This area covers contemporary dance, creative movement, circus skills and stage skills. Scholarships may provide all or part of tuition fees to the end of Year 12, commencing in January, 2010.

Opportunities to be involved in the Performing Arts at Ballarat Grammar are provided through class electives, VCE Drama and/or VCE Theatre Studies, School productions and specialist workshops. It is expected that students in Year 7, 2010 will be involved in the innovative Physical Theatre program.

The Scholarships will be awarded as a result of an audition and interview at the School on:

Saturday 27th Feb, 2010

Applicants will be expected to:

  1. Present an audition piece of no longer than two minutes in length that will show their skill through either a short performance or presentation OR a demonstration of skills.
  2. Participate in a group workshop and
  3. attend a brief interview where students may present their portfolio.

Students are to come in clothes suited to participating in a practical workshop.

Applicants should bring to the audition:-

A portfolio presenting experience to date in the physical theatre/dance area. This portfolio may include photographs, programs, sketches of events and activities that students have been involved in, diagrams of costumes, masks, puppets, etc, that students have made.
