Grammar success at International Maths Challenge
A team of four Ballarat Grammar Year 11 students, Annabella Lewis, Amy Zuell, Thomas Burnett and Luke Williams, has placed in the Top 12 of the Australian competition of the International Mathematical Modelling Challenge! The challenge was to show how maths can help with real-life everday decision-making by coming up with a mathematical model that addressed the problem posed by the competition organisers; ‘Which hospital would be the best choice for non-emergency treatment?’
The team used a number of different mathematical theories in their solution to come up with their response, which impressed the judges and secured them a top 12 position. Congratulations! Well done also to Brandon Olver (team advisor) and the maths department for your support of our mathematics students.
