A Blooming Proposal

Steph Carter (2019 Woodbridge) and Will Henderson (2017 Wigan) first reconnected in the small rural community of Tatyoon, not far from Steph’s family farm, after a few years away from school. Their shared Ballarat Grammar connection was the beginning of their story, eventually leading Steph to join Will on his family farm in Blighty, NSW.

After four years together, Will devised a remarkable proposal. In April, he sowed a crop of canola, Steph’s favourite colour, in a carefully planned design, tending to it in secret throughout the year. On 6 September, with the fields in full bloom, he arranged a plane ride to reveal the surprise from the sky. The breathtaking gesture captured wide attention, featuring across newspapers, magazines, radio, and television, making their engagement as unforgettable as the story behind it. The Grammar community extends its warmest congratulations to Will and Steph and wishes them every happiness as they begin this next chapter together.
