Ballarat Grammar is incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee and is governed by a Board of 10 Directors with a Company membership of 25. The Bishop of Ballarat is the President and the ceremonial and spiritual leader of the School.

    A GP in Ballarat, Dr Deutscher’s interpersonal skills and community involvement are highly respected and she has a dedicated interest in providing a first-rate education to all young people.

    Mr Hovey’s financial acumen has guided Grammar on a strong path over the years. He has a keen interest in the stock market and also recent experience as a local owner-builder.

  • Dr David Mackay

    BAgEc (Hons), FACS, FAICD, GradDipComp, MEC, PhD, Flight Instructor and Director, Golden Plains Aviation

    Dr Mackay has a strong background in Applied Economics, Business IT and tertiary teaching. He is a commercial pilot and aviation instructor and has significant experience in agriculture and Board governance.

    Mr Nevett has engineering qualifications, project and change management skills acquired at VicRoads. His interests include local corporate governance and being involved in Grammar’s Rowing Program and the Ballarat & Queen’s Old Grammarians’ Association.

    Mathematics and statistics education has been Professor Pierce’s recent focus. She has extensive experience in research and publications as well as strong mentoring skills.

  • Dr Damian Powell

    BA (Hons, Melbourne), PhD (Adelaide), Senior Fellow, School of Historical and Philosophical Studies (Melbourne), Principal, Janet Clarke Hall, The University of Melbourne

    Dr Powell is an historian and educator whose professional life has focussed mainly on the formation of young women and men during their tertiary studies. He has advised at a national level on cultural change, particularly through membership of an Expert Panel in Reviews on the Treatment of Women in the Australian Defence Force. Dr Powell has a keen interest in the transition between secondary and tertiary education.

    Mr Ryan has a strong background in community development work and recreation and a commitment to rural communities. He also has a keen interest in marketing, analysis and master planning.

    Mr Swanson is an internationally experienced Finance Executive having gained experience in South Africa, the UK and Australia with, amongst others, KPMG and EY. He is a current parent and is passionate about business analysis and transformation.

    BA. LL.B

    Mrs Yanner is the Director of Yanner Mann Dobson Law, having worked for Mann Dobson Lawyers as a solicitor before buying the business in 2015. Her passion is in preventative law, working with clients in an open, direct and collaborative manner to plan for and navigate the legal obstacles that arise in their lives.
